Jean-Pierre Beltoise ( French: Jean-Pierre Maurice Georges Beltoise ; April 26, 1937 , Paris - January 5, 2015 , Dakar [3] ) - French race car driver and motorcycle racer, participant in the Formula 1 world championship racing. Also participated in MotoGP .

Beltoise won 11 national titles in three years. He took part in MotoGP from 1962 to 1964 in classes 50, 125 and 250 cc. His best result was sixth in the 1964 championship of the year in the 50 cc class .
In 1963, he raced a 1.1-liter sport prototype Rene Bonnetr. His career almost ended after a major accident in 1964 at 12 o'clock in Reims , where he broke his arm. Beltoise won at the stage in Reims Formula 3 , the next season he moved to Formula 2 .
After the good seasons in 1966 and 1967, he moved to Formula 1 and began to play for the Matra , equipped with a V12 engine , and earned second place at the 1968 Dutch Grand Prix . In 1969 he was hired by Ken Tyrrell to the Matra team, his partner was Jackie Stewart , he finished second at the 1971 French Grand Prix . In 1971 , he was chasing the Matra sports prototype team, he had an accident in which Ignazio Dzhunti died on the track of Buenos Aires , and he was deprived of a racing license for some time. In 1972, he signed a contract with the BRM team and won the last victory in the team’s history at the 1972 Monaco Grand Prix under heavy rain. Finally, he left Formula 1 after completing the 1974 season.
He later took part in the tests for the Ligier team , but did not return to Formula 1.

* At the German Grand Prix of 1969 , Beltoise finished twelfth, but his Formula 1 car was sixth behind 6 Formula 2 cars, so the point counted for the championship.
Death
Jean-Pierre Beltoise died on January 5, 2015 in the capital of Senegal, the city of Dakar, from the effects of a double stroke [4] .
