Christian Wilhelm Allers ( German: Christian Wilhelm Allers ; August 6, 1857 , Hamburg - October 19, 1915 Karlsruhe) - German painter and engraver . He was involved in a scandal with Frederick Alfred Krupp related to allegations of same-sex contacts [4] .

Biography

Christian Wilhelm Allers was born on August 6, 1857 in the city of Hamburg in the family of a businessman.
He began as a lithographer in Hamburg, then in 1877 he moved to Karlsruhe. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Ferdinand Keller . In the years 1880-1881 he served in the imperial fleet in Kiel . Allers became famous for his graphic albums and book illustrations, built a house in Karlsruhe and bought a villa in Capri , where he hosted many celebrities from Germany and other countries of the world.
In the fall of 1902, Allers was accused of same-sex contacts in connection with the scandal surrounding Friedrich Alfred Krupp and in 1903 was sentenced by an Italian court to four and a half years in prison. Allers fled from Italy and set off on trips around the world. He continued to engage in graphics and earned his living by portraits.
Christian Wilhelm Allers died on October 19, 1915 in the city of Karlsruhe, shortly after returning to Germany.
