The Centrist Democratic International is an international association of political parties and organizations based on the principles of Christian or integral humanism, that is, humanism that recognizes the existence of a spiritual dimension in human nature and is committed to the ideals of brotherhood.

History
The International was founded in 1961 under the name “ Christian Democrat World Union ” ( English Christian Democrat World Union ) in order to promote the ideas of Christian democracy . The union includes three international party associations: New International Teams ( Fr. Nouvelles Équipes Internationales ) (predecessor of the European Christian Democratic Union - European Union of Christian Democrats ), Christian Democratic Organization of America and Christian- Democratic Union of Central Europe ”( eng. Christian Democrat Union of Central Europe ). In 1982, the organization was renamed the Christian Democrat International , and in 1999 the Centrist Democratic International, to reflect the growing participation of various religions in the movement. Some of the organization’s documents also use a different name, “ Christian Democrat and People’s Parties International ”. CDI is headquartered in Brussels .
Currently, the international includes more than 100 parties. Some of these parties are difficult to identify as Christian Democratic [1] . Most European CDI members are also members of the European People's Party .
The Central Youth Organization has a youth organization called Youth of the Centrist Democrat International .
Since June 2008, the United Russia party has been a member of the supervisory board [2] .
