Story
Saratov guy Sergei Lukonin ( Nikolai Kryuchkov ) in the summer of 1932 leaves the regional city in the distant Omsk , in a tank school. In Saratov, his bride remains, Varenka, who soon became an actress. In 1936, Sergei went to war in Spain , where he was captured by the Germans and impersonating a Frenchman, but the Germans, identifying him by their accent, are trying to force him to confess that he is Russian. However, the circumstances are such that Sergei was able to escape. And again the battles in which he tries to uncover the possibilities of Soviet tanks.
In 1941, the war begins, and he, like millions of Soviet people, finds himself at the front, where he meets with an old acquaintance - the German who interrogated him in Spain.
Based on the play of the same name by Konstantin Simonov .
