Surname
The origin of the surname McQueen is still unclear. Perhaps this is the Germanized form of the Gaelic surname MacShuibhne ( Gelsk. Shuibhne - kind, pleasant) [1] . There is also an opinion that the primordial form of the surname McQueen is MacConn ( Gelsk. Conn - leader) [2] .
Clan History
It is known that in the 15th century the McQueen were allies of the MacDonalds of Clanranald . When the tenth chief of the Macintosh clan, Malcolm married Sea MacDonald, Revan McQueen entered the retinue accompanying the bride. He settled on the land of the Macintosh and became the laird of Corribro, and then the McQueen clan was then called the Revan clan. It is believed that the name Revan, as a proper name, was lost. However, this is an old Scottish name. [3] .
Since then, the generation of lords of Corribro has become the main branch of the McQueen clan. They still occasionally helped the Macintosh clan [5] .
