Player Career

Alexander Stepanov began his professional career in 1997 as part of his native Moscow Dynamo , playing before for his farm club. In 2000, Alexander for the first time in his career won the gold awards of Russian championships. In 2005, Stepanov repeated this success, immediately after which he moved to Kazan Ak Bars . In total, Dynamo spent 8 seasons with Dynamo, gaining 69 (33 + 36) points in 277 matches during this time.

In the very first year in Kazan, Stepanov became the champion of Russia for the third time, adding to this success silver awards in 2007 , as well as victories in the European Cup and Continental Cup . Moreover, in the “leopards” Alexander twice became the owner of the Gagarin Cup . For 6 years in Kazan, Stepanov spent 396 matches in which he scored 122 (63 + 59) points.

Immediately after the end of the 2010/11 season , the leadership of Ak Bars, in connection with the rejuvenation of the composition, decided to part with Alexander [1] , after which there were many rumors connecting him with the KHL clubs [2] [3] [4] . However, on September 5, 2011 Stepanov signed a one-year contract with Cherepovets Severstal [5] .

Missed season 2015/16 as a free agent. May 21, 2016 signed a contract with Podolsky “Vityaz” for a period of one year [7] .
