Pelagonitissa is an icon of the Mother of God .

The time of appearance of the icon is unknown. Pelagonitissa belongs to the iconographic type " Infant Bounce " (a type of Eleusa type). It becomes known already in the 13th century (for example, a miniature of the Syrian Psalter of 1203 from the British Library ). The earliest image with the epithet "Pelagonitissa" is in the Church of St. George in Staro Nagorichino , a fresco with this image dates back to 1318 .

An icon of the type Pelagonitissa from Hilandar with the inscription " Avramiotissa " refers to the XIV century .

Lists of the image of the Mother of God Pelagonity revered in Pelagonia appear in Russia no earlier than the 17th century .
