History

It was founded in 1878 by Prince L. S. Golitsyn as a factory for the production of sparkling wine in the Novyi Svet estate acquired by him. In 1890, industrial bottling was launched. In 1896, wine under the brand name "Coronation" was supplied for the coronation procedures of the emperor [1] , and the emblem of the Russian Empire was allowed to be bottled. Sparkling wine "Paradisio" of the fourth edition ( 1899 ) received a grand prix at the 1900 World's Fair . It is noteworthy that Count Chandon was shocked that the gold medal was received not by a winery from Champagne, but by a Russian manufacturer. [2] Under the direction of the prince, 3.2 km of tunnels for aging wines were built. In 1905, the plant experienced a serious crisis. In 1913, the estate with an enoteca , a tasting room and adits was handed over to Golitsyn as a gift to Nicholas II .

In the years 1918-1920, the estate was looted. In 1920, the estate with the plant was transferred into the ownership of the Crimea Revolutionary Committee (the enoteca was taken out), in 1931 - into the ownership of the Workers and Peasants Police Department. The restoration of production begins in 1932, when the plant is included in the Krymvinpromtrest association.

A. Ivanov in 1927 in the journal "Bulletin of Winemaking of Ukraine" notes [3] :

"... you can no longer chase after receiving copies of French champagne in Crimea, the task is more correctly posed - making your own Crimean champagne."

A great contribution to the revival of the enterprise during the years of the first five-year plans was made by A. M. Frolov-Bagreev , E. Ya. Klots, V. Sorokin, M. Prokhorenko, D. Scriabin, A. Seferov. At the 1940 All-Union Wine Tasting, “Soviet Champagne” from the New World received the highest mark of the commission. During the years of the occupation of Crimea, German experts unsuccessfully tried to restore production. With the retreating German troops, the adits were partially destroyed. The first post-war circulation was laid in 1944 (131 thousand bottles). By the efforts of the director of the plant T. T. Breusov and the main champagne A.V. Murashko in 1966, the circulation of champagne was increased to 704 thousand bottles. In the years 1974-1977. the plant was reformed into the agro-industrial complex “Novy Svet” state farm , which was headed by M.N. Matvienko.

The management, employees and products of the plant were repeatedly awarded various national and international awards for achievements in the field of winemaking - 74 gold, 33 silver, 4 bronze medals, 114 diplomas, 5 grand prix cups, 7 super grand prix cups.

In 2008, the New World sparkling wine house was awarded an honorary diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine . In the same year, to the 130th anniversary of the founding of the plant, the opening of the monument to L. S. Golitsyn was timed.

In March 2014, in connection with the adoption by the State Council of Crimea of a resolution “On the Independence of Crimea”, the plant was nationalized [4] [1] .

In July 2014, the company was included in the EU sanctions list [1] .

In January 2015, the constituent documents of the plant were brought into compliance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The current name of the enterprise sounds like the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Crimea “New World Champagne Plant” [5] .

In December 2017, the enterprise was privatized, the owner was the South Project company registered in St. Petersburg, owned by the private bank Russia , the transaction value amounted to 1.55 billion rubles. Before the purchase, state-owned enterprises were handed over to vineyards and corporatized . [6] .
