Biography

Barry Ferguson was expelled from the Scottish team after a scandal in April 2009 when, after the 2010 World Cup qualifying match against the Dutch team, goalkeeper Allan McGregor threw a drunken party at the hotel where the team was staying with the former Rangers teammate.

A few days later, both players defiantly behaved on the bench at Hampden Park during a match with Iceland, after which the Scottish Football Association decided to expel both of them from the national team for life.

However, the new head coach of the Scottish national team Craig Levein , who led the team in December 2009, told Ferguson and McGregor that they could return to the team, and if McGregor agreed immediately, Ferguson took time to think. On July 6, 2010, he announced the completion of an international career. [2]
