Standing on a Beach (in the CD version published under the name Staring at the Sea ) is a compilation of the British band The Cure . The collection was released in May 1986 and is a clear demonstration of changes in the creative path of the group over eight years.

Standing on a Beach was released on three types of media: a record , a CD, and a CD . Vinyl contained all thirteen released singles in chronological order. The CD contained the same compositions as on vinyl, but, in addition, it also included four additional tracks previously released on previous albums. The compact cassette included all the singles and all the baysides from these singles, including the track “Mr. Pink Eyes. " A collection of video clips Staring at the Sea: The Images was also released, the track list of which is identical to the CD version. All the baysides from the compact cassette were released in 2004 as part of the Join the Dots collection and took up almost the entire first disc.
