Life and creativity
Eduardo Paolozzi was born into a family of Italian immigrants. At the very beginning of World War II, he was interned as a “hostile alien”. In 1943 he studied at the Edinburgh College of Art, in 1944 - 1947 studies painting at the London School of Fine Arts Slade. In 1952, the artist participates in the Independent Group ( IG ), which unites young artists working in the style of pop art. The artist lives alternately in Paris and London. In 1955 - 1958, he studied sculpture at the St. Martin School of Art in London. In addition to sculpture, she is also interested in ceramics, mosaic works.
E. Paolozzi is also engaged in teaching activities - in 1960–1962 he is a professor at the Hamburg Graduate School of Art, in 1968 - at the University of California at Berkeley , then at the Royal College of Art in London, in 1977 - heads the department of artistic ceramics at the Graduate School Cologne , from 1981 to 1989 , before its renewal , was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Munich .
The master participated in numerous art exhibitions, including exhibitions of contemporary art document 2, 3, 4 and 6 (respectively in 1959 , 1964 , 1968 and 1977) in the German city of Kassel .
Awards and titles
E. L. Paolozzi was awarded the Order of the British Empire (Commander) in 1968; in 1989 he was Queen Elizabeth II elevated to the Knights Bachelor .
Since 1979, E. L. Paolozzi is a member of the Royal Academy of Arts . In 1986, he was awarded the honorary title of Her Royal Majesty the Sculptor of Scotland .
