Biography
Anna Lukyanovna was born in the city of Elizavetpole (now the city of Ganja, Azerbaijan Republic) in the family of a teacher - a school teacher of natural science. She received secondary education in Tbilisi at the technical school, and then entered the biological department of the natural faculty of Tiflis State University , which she graduated in 1927 .
After graduating from university, she joined the Botanical Office of the Museum of Georgia , a reputable senior scientific center of the entire Caucasus region, where she worked from 1927 to 1931 under the guidance of well-known botanists B. K. Shishkin and E. I. Kikodze . Almost simultaneously, Anna Luk'yanovna begins her pedagogical activity; first as an assistant and then as an assistant professor at Tbilisi State University, whom she did not part with until the last days of her life.
During her work at the Museum of Georgia she took an active part in all floristic and complex expeditions organized by the Museum and the Georgian Geographical Society in Svaneti , Pshav-Khevsureti and Khevi to study the nature of high-mountain Georgia. During these years, being a member of the Georgian Mountaineers Club, Anna Lukyanovna became one of the first women to take part in the mountaineering campaigns of the Georgian mountaineers - the founders of Soviet mountaineering. In particular, she made a climb to the summit of Tetnuld with them in 1933.
In 1934, she entered the position of junior researcher at the Department of Plant Systematics and Geography of the Tbilisi Institute of Botany of the Georgian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences , where she worked under the guidance of well-known experts on the flora and vegetation of the Caucasus - Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the GSSR DI Sosnovsky and corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences N. A. Bush In 1935 she was confirmed as a senior researcher at the Institute of Botany of the GSSR. In 1952, Anna Dmitrievna was appointed head of the Department of Plant Systematics and Geography of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the GSSR, where she stayed until the end of her life, preserving and multiplying the best traditions of the classics of Russian plant systematics in the department.
In 1938 she defended her thesis on the results of a monographic treatment of the systematically difficult cycle of the Minuartia imbricata ( M. Bieb. ) Woronov .
Anna Dmitrievna took an active position in public life ː was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Georgian SSR of the 3rd convocation (1951-1954); was a founding member of the Georgian Botanical Society and a member of the editorial board of his journal "Vestnik"; For a number of years, she was a member of the Scientific Council, the All-Union Botanical Society (since 1952), a member of the All-Union Coordination Commission of the USSR Academy of Sciences, a member of the Georgian Geographical Society . During her time at the Institute of Botany, she was a member of the Scientific Council, and in subsequent years a member of the Specialized Scientific Council of the Higher Attestation Commission at the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the GSSR.

In the field of scientific interests of Anna Dmitrievny Kharadze were many topics. From the point of view of systematics, she processed the most difficult genera from different families of flowering plants; her many works concern the classification of endems , the origin of xerophilic and karyophilic vegetation
Author of valuable work on the taxonomy of the genus Kolokolchik ( Campanula ) [3] , generalizing research "To the study of the xerophilous floras of the Rocky ridge" (1948), "Endemic hemixerophilic element of the high mountains of the Greater Caucasus" (1960) and "To the botanical and geographical zoning of the high mountains of the Greater Caucasus" (1966).
