History

At the beginning of the V century, the city of Guanggu, the capital of the state of South Yan, was located on the territory of modern Qingzhou .

When during the Civil War the Communists seized these places from the Kuomintang in April 1948, then in June 1948 they formed the Weifang Special City (潍坊 特别 市), subordinate directly to the communist administration of the Shandong Province, and the Qingzhou Special City (青州 特别 市) . In December 1948, Changwei Special District (昌潍 专区) was established, the board of which has been located in Qingzhou since July 1949. In June 1949, Weifang Special City was transformed into an ordinary city, but still subordinate directly to the provincial authorities. In May 1950, Weifang City was disbanded and transformed into a regular county subordinate to Changwei Special District, and the authorities of Changwei Special Region moved to Weifang. In 1951, Changwei City County was established. In 1952, Qingzhou was again transformed into Idu County. In July 1953, the Zibo Special Region (淄博 专区) was disbanded, and the former Linzi County was transferred to the Changwei Special Region; at the same time, the districts of Weibei, Qunan and Shounan were disbanded. In 1955, under the jurisdiction of Zibo, Boshan County was transferred to the Changwei Special District. In 1956, the Jiaozhou Special District (胶州 专区) was disbanded, and 6 of its earlier counties were transferred to the Changwei Special Region; Pingdu County was transferred from the Laiyang Special Region (莱阳 专区) to Changwei Special District. In 1958, Weixian County was annexed to Weifang City County, and Boshan County returned to the recreated Zibo Special District; Jiaonan and Jiaoxian counties came under the jurisdiction of Qingdao . In 1961, Jiaonan and Jiaoxian counties returned to Changwei Special District.

In 1967, Changwei Special District was renamed Changwei County (昌潍 地区); at that moment it included 1 city district and 14 counties. In 1969, Linzi County was transferred to Zibo. In 1977, Huangdao District was formed; in 1978, the Huangdao district and Jiangonan and Jiaoxian counties were transferred under the jurisdiction of Qingdao, as a result of which Changwei County remained 1 city county and 11 counties.

In 1981, Changwei County was renamed Weifang County (潍坊 地区).

Weifang County was disbanded in 1983, and Weifang Urban District was formed instead (Pingdu County was transferred to Qingdao), consisting of 3 subordinate districts (formed on the site of the former Weifang City County and Weixian County) and 9 counties.

In 1986, Idu County was transformed into Qingzhou City County. In 1987, Zhucheng County was transformed into a city county. In 1992, Wulien County was transferred to the Rizhao Urban District. In 1993, Shouguan County was transformed into a city county. Ecology

Modern Weifang is one of the greenest cities in China. Currently, the level of landscaping of the city is 40%, the area of greenery per capita has exceeded 12 square meters. In addition, Weifang is trying to become a city of "parks and forests." It contains:

  • Ziyi Park
  • Park in the swamp
  • Plant park

However, the largest environmental construction program is the streamlining of the three rivers crossing this city. The longest Zhangmyan river used to be known for its dirty banks and unpleasant odor. She caused great discontent among the inhabitants of the city. After several years of cleaning up the river, it turned into a very clean river.
