Opel Astra H ( Astra III ) is the third generation of the compact class Opel Astra , which was produced from March 2004 to September 2009. In Russia, the large-unit assembly “Astra H” began in 2004 at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad , and in 2008, full-scale production was launched at the General Motors automobile assembly plant near St. Petersburg , in the village of Shushary , where the car was produced until autumn 2009 [2] . At the plant in Kaliningrad, the car was produced until 2014 under the name Astra Family [3] .

Opel Astra H is the successor to the Opel Astra G and is the eighth model in the Kadett / Astra series.

Model History
In March 2004, a five - door hatchback entered the market, a wagon appeared at the end of 2004, and the sports three - door hatchback GTC (Gran Tourismo Compact) for European markets, Great Britain and Australia began to be produced since 2005.

OPC
Beginning in 2005, Opel began producing the OPC version of the Astra GTC (sold as Astra VXR in the UK ).
