History

“Czech Fool” is the Russian name for the popular European game “Mau-Mau”, which became widespread in Russia in the middle of the 20th century. The game exists in many variants under different names: "English fool", "Pharaoh", "Pentagon", which differ in minor details.

At the end of the 20th century, it is better known as “101” by the number of points that serves as the end of the game.

Rules

They play a deck of cards from 36 cards and more. The cards are dealt one at a time, and only 4 for each player. The deck is placed in the middle of the table. In the first game, the first move goes to a randomly selected player, and then to the player who won the last game. In some cases, 5 cards are dealt to each player, and the dealer 4, he puts the fifth card at stake. The next player needs to beat this card. They go in this game clockwise - the next player will be the one to the left of the person who started the game. [1] The next player can put a card of the same suit or the same value on it. If he does not have the required card, he is obliged to take cards from the deck until he draws the desired card or until the deck runs out (in some cases he can take only one card, but he can still use the card from his arsenal ( you can’t do this) - if it didn’t fit, the move goes to the next player). If the cards in the deck run out, then the top one is removed from the stack of open cards and left open on the table, while the rest are turned over (in some versions of the game they are shuffled) and again serve as the deck.

Special cards require certain actions from a player:

  • 6 - the player who was like must “cover” it - put another card that meets the rules (if there are no suitable cards - take it from the deck until it finds the one you need), in some cases - absolutely any card. In older rules - the next player must take 2 cards from the deck and skip the move (or, in other varieties of the game, 1 card);
  • 7 - the next player must take 2 (in some cases - 4) cards and skip the move (if there are only 2 players in the game, the move remains with the one who put the card); in some versions of the game, if 7 is peak, then you need to take 4 cards; The player may not go with this card, if there is one ..
  • 10 - changes the direction of the game;
  • Ace - the next player skips a move if he does not have an ace (according to some rules, a player simply skips a move);
  • At the end of the game, the player can go on the last move, if the loser has no more than 5 cards.
  • The lady is a trump card. The player who posted the lady can order any suit. The next player, in this case, can put the card only of the ordered suit or queen (and order any suit). A queen can be put on any card (this rule applies in some versions of the game). In some cases, the ladies remaining in the arms are reset at the same time, with points being awarded for each lady.
  • King of Spades - The next player must take 4 cards and skip a move (if there are only 2 players in the game, then the turn remains with the one who put the card.);
  • From cards 6 and 7, you can protect yourself with a card with the same value, thereby transferring the action of the card to the next player and doubling it.

The goal of one game cone is to get rid of all the cards on hand. The first to get rid of his cards wins. The rest count the points on the cards remaining in their hands. The one who gains in the amount of more than 101 points loses.

With four identical cards, a retake is made.

Scoring

  • Jack 0 - 2 points.
  • Lady 0 - 3 points.
  • King - 4 points.
  • Ace - 11 points.
  • Nine - 0 points.
  • The rest of the cards are worth it.
  • The winning player, if the lady was his last card, deducts 20 points from his account (if the peak - 40).
  • The player, left only with the ladies in his arms, adds to his score 20 points from each lady, and if the queen is peak, then 40.

Penalty points earned in each round are added up. The first one to score more than 101 points loses and leaves the game. The game continues between the remaining players further. The winner is the last player who has not scored 101 penalty points. This option is also practiced - the player who loses with more than 101 points loses. The player who scored exactly 101 is reset to zero and he gets the opportunity to recoup. [2] In the same case (not always), zeroing of the account is practiced if the player also collects negative values of the account.

Game Options

Some parts of the rules may vary:

  1. The initial number of cards varies from 3 to 6.
  2. At the beginning of the game, while the player has 0 points, he will not be awarded points if at the end of the game he still has cards less than a certain number of points, in different variations from 14 to 24. This rule ceases to apply to the player if he wins the con received minus 20 points or minus 40. Also, this rule does not apply to a player who scored 101 points and as a result, his score is reset.
  3. In the absence of the required card, the player takes only one card from the deck, and if it does not allow making a move, the player skips the move. This change does not apply to the six.
  4. Crocodile . The game follows the rules of the previous version, to which the following rule is added - the king of worms obliges the next player to skip the move and take 5 cards from the deck.
  5. When playing with a small deck (32 sheets), the seven requires the raising of two cards, the eight - one card; in another version: the seven requires a lift, pisses 30 off his points. If the queen is the only card left in his hands, he writes down 30 penalty points.
  6. The Pentagon . Cards are placed only in the suit. You can only put a card of the same value if there is a six. After ordering the suit through the queen, the next player skips the move. Points: Ace - 11, King - 4, Queen - 20, Jack - 2, 10 - 10. Points are not awarded for other cards.
  7. At the end of the game, you need to close cards that make you skip a move.
  8. When scoring points in the amount of "-365", the so-called "Golden Year" the player wins.
  9. To increase the duration of the game, players can change the "ceiling", for example, to 201 or 501.
  10. Another version of the game: The rules are the same as in the paragraph Rules , but with minor changes.
  • The dealer gives the last card (which goes to him). This is his move.
  The player they go to ...
  • Six: Draws 1 card and skips a move.
  • Seven: Draws 2 cards and skips a move.
  • The King of Spades: Draws 4 cards and skips a turn.
  • Ace: skips a move.
  The player who walks ...
  • Eight: Must definitely cover it. If in his hand there is no card of the desired suit or dignity, then the cards are taken from the deck until one that overlaps the eight is caught.
  • The Queen of Spades ONLY can cover any card. The remaining Ladies act only on cards of the same suit or value. Any lady can order a suit.
  • In one move, you can throw 4 cards of the same value.
