Life and creativity
Jim Dine was born to a merchant family. Educated in 1953 - 1958 at the University of Cincinnati , Ohio University ( Columbus ) and the Boston School of Fine Arts . In 1959 he moved to New York . Together with Klas Oldenburg , Allan Kaprow and Mark Ratlif, he creates the Judson Gallery in New York, where friends organize their first happenings . Between 1960 and 1965, Jim Dine teaches at Oberlin College (Ohio) and at Yale University . Since 1966, working jointly with the Scottish sculptor Eduardo Paolozzi in London . Currently, the artist lives and works in New York.
Jim Dine is known as an artist, graphic artist, sculptor, since the 60s of the XX century - also as a poet, later he was fond of photography and artistic work for the theater. In painting he worked in the styles of pop art, abstract expressionism , and since the 80s - also figurative painting.
Member of the Venice Biennale in 1964 and the 4th documents ( 1968 ). Included in the top 100 artists of the XX-XXI centuries according to ArtFacts.net (as of 2012, it is 95th) [2] .
