The Battle of Thessaloniki - the battle between the Goths of Fritigern and the Roman troops of Theodosius I. It happened in the fall of 380 . After the battle of Adrianople, Theodosius with great difficulty recruited an army, included the Goths in it, and began a systematic struggle with the barbarians, forcing them out of Thrace . But the Roman army suffered a new heavy defeat when Theodosius retreated to Thessaloniki .
