The son of Prince Boemund V of Antioch and Lucienne di Cacciamo Seny. Brother of the Queen of Cyprus and Regent of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, Pleasantia of Antioch . In 1252, after the death of Boehmund V, he became the reigning prince of Antioch and the count of Tripoli.
Boehmund was diplomatically closely associated with the French king Louis IX , who, after the Seventh Crusade, stayed in Acre and actually ruled the Kingdom of Jerusalem. In 1254, through the mediation of Louis, he married the Armenian princess Sibylla , the daughter of the Armenian king Hetum I , thereby ending the strife between Antioch and the Cilician kingdom , which began under his grandfather Boemund IV . In 1258, he was proclaimed the interim lord of the Kingdom of Jerusalem as regent under the minor nephew, King Hugo II of Cyprus . It was not recognized by all the seniors and communities of Palestine. He ruled the Kingdom of Jerusalem in 1258–1261 . In 1261, after the death of Pleasantia of Antioch, he was forced to resign as regent-seigneur.
In 1260, Baybars I defeated the Mongols at the Battle of Ain Jalut , after which he began to threaten Antioch, which supported the Mongols as a vassal of Armenia. In 1268, Baybars captured and destroyed Antioch while Bohemund stayed in Tripoli. After 1268, Bohemund held the title of Prince Antioch only formally, in fact he remained the Earl of Tripoli.
