Guyton was born in Hammond , but grew up in Lake City . He graduated from the University of Tennessee (1990-1995) and Hunter College (1996-1998).
Last years [ when? ] the artist moved away from sculpture and focused on painting on canvas, which he creates using a computer and a large format inkjet printer . The artist selects a motif , for example, a black rectangle , and prints it on a canvas that needs to be bent so that it fits in the printer. As a result, a creased band appears at work surrounded by two black planes. Despite the uniformity of the process, the result varies depending on how much or little ink is left in the printer. Guyton began creating painting using a printer in 2004 . Before that, he was printing pages from art magazines , for this he also used a printer, but much smaller. Commercial success allowed him to purchase more expensive equipment. One of his works, with the letters Xs on white, was included in the review of the Museum of Modern Art “What is painting?” Next to the works of Sarah Morris and Gabriel Orozco .
