Tennessee runoff is almost completely regulated by a multi-purpose reservoir system, 9 of which are located on Tennessee itself (including the largest - Kentucky, with an area of 1,100 km²) and 22 on tributaries. Thanks to the bypass channels (in the area of the rapids near the cities of Chattanooga and Florence) and the Tennessee locks are navigable all the way from the confluence of its constituent rivers. The total capacity of hydropower plants in the Tennessee basin is about 4 GW. In Tennessee, located Knoxville , Chattanooga , Florence .
