In the 4th – 5th centuries AD, on a small plateau above the source, a battle took place between the Scythians and the Huns. Losses on both sides, at that time were huge. Even the water in the spring turned red with blood. Later, in the XI-XIV centuries, the source was a pagan cult place, which was considered a "place of power."

In 1826, according to legend, a Greek woman Mary saw a vision of a young man with a halo on his head, who was pointing his hand at the spring. In 1828, miraculous healing took place at the source. Evdokia - the daughter of Asteroka, was completely healed of psoriasis. In the same year, Asteroks, in gratitude for the miraculous healing of their daughter with the blessing of the Archbishop of Crimea and Tauride Innocent, put up a worship cross. On the cross was the icon of the great martyr Panteleimon (Asteroki family heirloom). In 1832, the icon disappeared and only 60 years later, in 1892, it was found in the Chorak-Su river, flowing near the source, Ibrahim Chorbadzhi.

In 1893, a wooden chapel was installed over the spring (see Chapel of St. Panteleimon (Old Crimea) , which burned down in 1904.

In 1948, on the eve of the temple festival, they tried to fall asleep by order of the Starokrym City Council.

Since 1958, the source was courted by Ksenia Vissarionovna Tokareva.

At different times, Emperor Alexander II and his family, Sophia Pototskaya, and Prince Potemkin visited the source.

This is currently a place of pilgrimage. On the day of memory of St. Panteleimon on August 9, many believers come here.
