Biography

Born on December 24, 1918 in the village of Yukhimivtsi, now Volochysky district of the Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine, in the family of a railway worker. Ukrainian . In his youth, his father served as a non-commissioned officer in the Baltic Fleet coastal artillery. For participation in the Sveaborg uprising of 1906, he was sentenced to 10 years of exile in Siberia . Efim Boychuk graduated from the seven-year school, and in 1937 - Proskurov Industrial College.

Start of military service

Since 1937 - in the Red Army . Sent to study at the 2nd Kiev Artillery School, and when it was disbanded in 1938, transferred to the Tomsk Artillery School , which he graduated in 1939. From August 1939, he served as commander of an artillery platoon , then commander of a battery of a light artillery regiment in the Far East .

Great Patriotic War

In September 1941, the regiment, in which E. V. Boychuk served, was transferred to the front. He went through the whole war, fought as commander of the battery, commander of the artillery division, chief of staff of the artillery regiment. From August 1943 - Senior Assistant Chief of the Operations Division of the Headquarters of the Office of the Commander of Artillery of the North-Western Front . From May 1944 - chief of staff of an artillery brigade. He fought on the North-Western , 2nd Byelorussian , 2nd Ukrainian , 3rd Baltic fronts, liberated Romania , Hungary , Austria , Czechoslovakia . In August 1945, he was transferred back to the Far East , and was appointed Chief of Staff of the Army Cannon Brigade. As part of the forces of the Trans-Baikal Front participated in the Soviet-Japanese war . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1942.

He fought bravely and skillfully, was wounded several times, in one of the battles in 1942 was surrounded by the enemy and caused artillery fire on himself, miraculously remained alive. During the war years he went from lieutenant to major . Awarded four battle orders.

Post-war period

After the war, E. V. Boychuk served as chief of staff of an artillery brigade, since May 1947 - chief of staff of artillery of a rifle division, since July 1947 - senior officer of a department of artillery headquarters of the Transbaikal Military District . He graduated with honors from the F. Dzerzhinsky Military Academy in 1953.

After graduating from the academy in 1953, the commander of the howitzer artillery regiment in Rovno , from October 1954, the commander of the 77th engineering special brigade (the first missile brigades of the Armed Forces of the USSR were listed under this designation for secrecy purposes). The brigade was armed with long-range missiles R-1 and R-2, deployed in the village of New Belokorovichi Zhytomyr region. From December 1955 - Head of the Kamyshin Artillery Technical School. From October 1957 he commanded the missile corps in the Urals .

In the service of the General Staff

From December 1960 - Head of Direction, Deputy Head and Head of the Directorate General Staff . From July 1968 - Deputy, from 1969 - 1st Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces . Colonel General (1972).

At the head of the 12th General Administration

In February 1974, Colonel-General Artillery Boichuk was appointed head of the 12th Main Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Defense . This Main Directorate is responsible for the development, production, provision of troops with nuclear ammunition and for their storage and delivery to combat positions. The role of E. V. Boychuk in this important post is estimated by specialists extremely high. He is the initiator and executor of the reorganization of the entire nuclear supply system of the Armed Forces of the USSR. As a result, it was possible to achieve, on the one hand, a significant increase in the volume, scope and complexity of the tasks to be solved, and on the other, enhancement of the role, place and readiness of the 12th General Directorate's facilities for actions for their intended purpose. In fact, under his leadership, a new branch of the military was created, the main task of which was the delivery and issuance of nuclear munitions to troops and fleets in all combat conditions. Marshal of artillery (military rank awarded by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 4, 1980).

Since November 1985 - in the Group of Inspectors General of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR .

Efim Vasilyevich Boychuk died on June 4, 1991. He was buried at the Troyekurovsky cemetery of Moscow .
