History
A club called Guaratinguetá Esporte Clube ( Guaratingueta Sports Club ) was founded on October 1, 1998 . On November 26, 1999, Guaratingueta submitted an application to the Football Federation of the State of São Paulo to play in the B2 Series League for Paulista for the next season.
In 2005, the team was given the name “Guaratinguetá Futebol Ltda”. Since 2007, Guaratingueta has performed in the highest league of the São Paulo State Championship. In 2008, the team entrenched in the Serie C Championship of Brazil, reaching the 3rd stage of the tournament. After reforming the structure of the national championship, namely the reduction of Serie C from 64 to 20 clubs and the organization of Serie D , Guaratingueta retained the right to play in the third echelon of Brazilian football.
At the end of 2009, Guaratingueta managed to take 4th place in Serie C, which allowed it to break into Serie B for the next season. In 2010, the team took 15th place in Serie B and retained its place in this division.
On October 15, 2010 it was announced that the team was moving to the city of Americana . Officially, the move took place in January 2011. Team name changed to Americana Futebol Ltda. November 28 , at the end of the season of the Serie B championship of Brazil, in which "Americana" took a very high 8th place, the club returned to Guaratingueta and again became known as "Guaratinguetá Futebol Ltda".
In 2017, the club withdrew from all competitions due to financial difficulties.
