Biography

He was born on September 30, 1920 in the village of Anishtaikha, Yeltsovo volost, Kuznetsk district, Tomsk province (now Yeltsovsky district of the Altai Territory) in a peasant family. Russian Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943 . He graduated from 7 classes, worked on a collective farm .

In the Red Army since 1941 . At the front in World War II from November 1941.

The commander of the artillery platoon of the 53rd Guards Artillery Regiment (25th Guards Rifle Division, 6th Army, South-Western Front ) of the Guard Lieutenant Ivan Yarovikov distinguished himself in battles near Stalingrad (from 1961 - Volgograd, from 1965 - the hero city )

From August 6, 1942 to January 12, 1943, artillerymen of the platoon of the guard Lieutenant I. Yarovikov, direct fire in defensive and offensive battles destroyed seven tanks, ten bunkers and a large number of enemy manpower.

When crossing the Dnieper River on September 26, 1943, in the vicinity of the village of Voiskovoye, Solonyansky District, Dnipropetrovsk Region of Ukraine, the fearless artillery officer with the artillery platoon entrusted to him provided fire for crossing and fighting on the Dnieper bridgehead.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 22, 1944 for exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guard shown, Lieutenant Yarovikov Ivan Maksimovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal "(No. 2515).

The brave native of Altai, who went through the whole war, died on May 11, 1945 in the location of the sanitary department of the 7th Guards Army . He was buried in the city of Mikulov, South Moravian Region, Czech Republic .

Memory

The name of the Hero is immortalized at the Glory Memorial in the administrative center of Altai Territory - the city of Barnaul .
