The airport opened in 1966 and ranks third among the country's airports after Mexico City and Cancun . Passenger traffic in 2014 amounted to 8 733 500 people. The airport is part of the state-owned company , which operates twelve airports in the country, including Aguascalientes , Hermosillo , La Paz , Leon , Los Cabos , Los Mochis , Manzanillo , Mexicali , Morelia , Puerto Vallarta and Tijuana .

General information
Guadalajara Airport serves about 48 thousand domestic, 36 thousand international and three thousand charter flights per year. The main directions of the airport are the cities of Mexico, the USA and Canada . The port has two runways and four passenger terminals, which allows for more than 40 take-offs / landings of aircraft per hour with a total capacity of all terminals of more than 1,400 passengers per hour.
The airport is located 16 kilometers south of Guadalajara in the small town of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga . The airport buildings are constantly under construction and reconstruction, façade work has been completed, a new wing has been built to serve passengers on international routes and a shopping area for shops and fast food restaurants.

Guadalajara Airport provides passengers with the service of the Casa Grande, which is located between the main terminal building and the cargo terminal and is connected to Terminal 1 by a telescopic passage. The hotel offers a business center, eight conference rooms, Internet access, fax and photocopying services, as well as translation and secretarial services.
Five kilometers from the airport towards Guadalajara, another hotel is being built - Hotel Hampton inn Aeropuerto. The remaining hotels are located at least 20 minutes from the airport.
