Georgy Nikolov Delchev , also called Gotse Delchev ( Bulgarian: Georgi Nikolov Delchev, Gotse Delchev ; Maced. Korѓi Nikolov Delchev ; February 4, 1872 , Kukush , Ottoman Empire - May 4, 1903 , the village of Banitsa, Ottoman Empire ) - revolutionary from Macedonia [1] [2] leader of the Intra-Macedon-Odrinsk Revolutionary Organization [3] (later - WMOR ).

Biography

Born in Kukush in 1872 in the family of Nikola and Sultana Delchev. He was educated in the Solunsky Bulgarian male gymnasium . In 1891 he entered the Military School in Sofia , but because of his participation in the socialist circle he was expelled and since 1894 worked as a teacher in the city of Shtip along with Damyan Gruev , one of the founders of the secret organization BMORK , later known as Inner Macedon-Odrinsk revolutionary organization .

Gotse Delchev became the de facto leader of the organization and proclaimed the goal of the liberation of Macedonia and Edirne through armed rebellion. As an initial goal, the organization sought autonomy for Macedonia and Edirne within the Ottoman Empire .

Revolutionary Activities

In December 1896, Gotse Delchev left teaching and became a professional revolutionary. In 1896, at the Solunsky Congress, TMORO, together with Görcher Petrov, developed the program and charter of the organization. Gotse Delchev was elected the foreign representative of the organization and a member of the Central Committee of TMOR.

In 1899, at the initiative of Gotse Delchev, four (partisan detachments) VMORO were created.

In 1902, together with Görcher Petrov, he participated in the creation of a new program and charter of TMORO.

In March 1903, a couple of Gotse Delchev blew up a bridge on the Angista River on the Thessaloniki - Edirne railway line. In early May, the couple were ambushed by a village near the city of Serre , and in the battle Gotse Delchev was killed.
