Graduated from the Moscow Conservatory ( 1910 , class V.N. Dente). The first oboe in the orchestra of the Bolshoi Theater , then in 1923 - 1929 . he played in Persimfans , later in the All-Union Radio Orchestra. He also performed as part of the woodwind quartet (together with flutist Fyodor Levin , in particular).

From 1929 he taught at the Gnesins Musical Technical School , from 1933 at the same time at the MM Ippolitov-Ivanov Musical College . Since 1940 professor of the Moscow Conservatory . The author is known in the USSR "School of playing the oboe" ( 1939 - 1941 ).
