Design
Reduced rear-facing rear doors and a white roof provide the car with an unusual look. The windshield is low, so three wipers are used to clean it. The low frame, short wheelbase and location of the headlights and grille FJ Cruiser inherited from the FJ40.
The structural element of the SUV’s design is the frame , which is shorter than the platform of SUVs. The 4-cylinder VGR-FE VVT-i engine with a capacity of 4000 cubic centimeters develops a maximum power of 239 hp (178 kW). Since the 2010 model year, the use of the Dual VVT-i system (1GR-RR engine) allowed an additional 19 hp. (14 kW) and increase fuel economy with a slight decrease in torque (8 pounds per foot). The rear axle of the FJ Cruiser is a classic continuous axle. If the SUV is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission , all-wheel drive is plug-in, and under normal conditions, the rear axle is the leading one. With a 6-speed manual transmission, the drive is permanent. Toyota FJ Cruiser has a reduction gearbox. [3]
Security
Side curtain airbags for both rows of seats and side airbags for the torso were optional for cars of the 2007 model year, however, for 2008 they have become standard. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) awarded FJ Cruiser its Top Safety Pick award. The FJ Cruiser received a “Good” rating for front and side impacts, and also received a “Good” in all 14 measured categories.
