Biography
Born on August 6, 1920 in the village of Lapka-Pamash, now Sernursky district of the Republic of Mari El, in a peasant family. Mariets . He graduated from 6 classes, tractor driver courses. He worked on a collective farm as a tractor plowman, then as a tractor driver.
In 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army . He served in the artillery regiment in the city of Vinnitsa (Ukraine), graduated from the regimental school. Sergeant Yanalov was a gunner, commander of a fire platoon squad.
At the front in World War II from October 1941. He fought on the Western, 1st Baltic and 3rd Belorussian fronts. In the first battles he was wounded. Returning to the front as part of an artillery regiment, he defended Moscow, liberated Smolensk and Pskov. He became an agitator of the division, in 1943 he joined the CPSU (b). At the beginning of 1944, the deputy Komsomol of the division, Sergeant Yanalov, was sent to political political courses.
At the end of the courses with artillery had to leave. Junior Lieutenant Yanalov was appointed the Komsomol organizer of the battalion of the 997th Infantry Regiment, which fought in East Prussia as part of the 43rd Army. The young officer was constantly in the advancing units. Repeatedly with the soldiers went to the attack, infecting them with their energy, courage and courage. He distinguished himself in the battles during the assault on the city of Königsberg (now Kaliningrad).
On April 6, 1945, in the battle for the city of Königsberg, the second lieutenant Yanalov was the first to attack and burst into the enemy trench, dragging the battalion’s fighters with him. He threw grenades at the enemy stronghold, and with fire from a machine gun destroyed the calculations of 2 enemy machine guns. In this battle he died in hand-to-hand combat.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 19, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command assignments and the courage and heroism shown in battles with Nazi invaders, junior lieutenant Yanalov Andrei Mikhailovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union posthumously.

He was awarded the Order of Lenin.
Memory
By the decision of the Kaliningrad city executive committee of June 16, 1965, one of the city streets in the Central District was named after Yanalov. Streets in his homeland bear his name in the village of Sernur, as well as in Yoshkar-Ola. A bust of the Hero and a memorial plaque are installed in the village. The name of the hero was assigned to Sernursky secondary comprehensive labor polytechnic school with industrial training [3] .
