Biography
In 1951 he graduated from high school, in 1955 - 4 courses of the Kursk Medical Institute . He was drafted into the Armed Forces of the USSR , where in 1957 he graduated from the military medical faculty of the Saratov Medical Institute .
After graduating from the institute, he served in the 724th separate battalion of the aerodrome and technical support of the aviation regiment of the 26th Air Army as a medical specialist, head of the infirmary, senior doctor, doctor of the battalion - head of the medical center.
In May 1963 he was transferred to the cosmonaut training center , where he first served as a specialist physician, from November 1964 - senior specialist in biomechanics, from July 1968 - head of the 3rd laboratory, leading physician of the 1st department, from April 30, 1969 - Head of the 3rd laboratory of the 3rd department of the 3rd department of the 1st Research Institute of the CPC. He participated in the commissioning of the first domestic-made centrifuge (TsF-7), as well as in the development of new research methods and cosmonaut training in the centrifuge.
He was married, raised a son.
Space career
In April 1964, he took part in the selection of candidates for the flight on the first three-seater spaceship Voskhod, after a medical examination he was admitted as a candidate from the training center of the Air Force cosmonauts to special trainings. May 29, 1964 by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force was enrolled in the group to prepare for the flight at the Voskhod spacecraft.
From June to September 1964 he underwent preparation for a space flight at Voskhod spacecraft as a crew doctor, first entering the main group of astronauts, and from July 1964 into a backup one, where, together with Boris Volynov and Georgy Katys, they were backups of the main crew: Vladimir Komarov , Konstantin Feoktistov and Boris Egorov .
During the launch of the Voskhod spacecraft on October 12, 1964, he was an understudy for the crew doctor.
He died on January 11, 1976 from leukemia . He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Leonikh (near the Star City ) of the Shchelkovsky district of the Moscow region.
