Kochiev, Alexander Vasilievich

Alexander Vasilievich Kochiev (born March 25, 1956 , Leningrad ) is a Russian chess player , grandmaster ( 1977 ), Honored Trainer of Russia . In the 1970s, he was the youngest grandmaster in the world [1] . Graduated from Leningrad State University .

He achieved his first success in youth competitions; USSR Championship ( 1972 ) - 1st place; World Cup ( 1974 ) - 4th; European Championship ( 1975/1976 ) - 1st place. The winner of the team world championships among youth ( 1978 , 1980 and 1981 as part of the USSR national team) and the Cup of European clubs ( 1979 , as part of the Petrel team). Member of the FIDE Zone Tournament (1978).

The best results in other international competitions: Kapfenberg (1976) - 3rd; Dortmund (1977) - 1-2; Le Havre (1977) - 2-3rd; Hastings (1978/1979) - 2-5th; Reggio Emilia (1979/1980) - 1st; Sombor (1980) - 1-2; Stari-Smokovec (1983) - 1st; Leningrad (1984) - 6th (Kotov memorial), 4-7th (international tournament); Tallinn (1985) - 3-6th; Dresden (1986) - 3rd; Leningrad (1987) - 2–4 places (Furman memorial).

Ten-time blitz champion of St. Petersburg [2] . Took 12th place in the 45th championship of the USSR .
