Vagay is a river in the Tyumen region , the left tributary of the Irtysh .

The length of the river is 555 [2] km, the basin area is 23 thousand [2] km². It flows through the territory of Omutinsky , Golyshmanovsky , Aromashevsky and Vagaysky districts of the Tyumen region .
The food is snowy, spills strongly in spring, and becomes shallow in summer [2] . The average annual water flow rate is 8.23 m³ / s (near the village of Novovyigryshnaya) [2] . The largest tributaries are Balakhley , Agitka (right), Ashlyk (left). The Wagai Valley is densely populated, but there are no large settlements. In the upper reaches of the valley runs the railway branch Tyumen - Omsk (part of the Trans-Siberian Railway ).
Vagay flows into the Irtysh on the left, at its 729 km from the mouth [3] .

History
At the mouth of the river (now called Ermakova backwater ) Ermak died. 5 km from the actual confluence of the Vagay River in the Irtysh there is a man-made mouth (popularly called a “breakthrough”), dug up to the beginning of the 1960s for the convenience of rafting. In this place is the village of Vagai - the administrative center of the Vagai region.
