History
The order for the construction of the submarine was given on April 10, 1941 . The boat was laid down on October 24, 1942 at the Germaniaverft shipyard in Kiel under building number 678, and was launched on September 2, 1943 . The boat went into operation on October 9, 1943, under the command of Lieutenant Ruprecht Fischer.

Service History
The boat made 4 military campaigns. I have not achieved success. She surrendered to Lysahalli , Northern Ireland , on May 14, 1945, shortly after that she was sunk by artillery fire of the Polish destroyer Piorun during Operation Deadlight in the area with coordinates
Boat Attacks
- July 25, 1944 U-244 was attacked by the Norwegian Mosquito aircraft. As a result of the attack, one person was killed, seven were injured. The boat returned to base.
