Viktor Fedorovich Ermakov (born September 9, 1935 , Dnepropetrovsk ) - Soviet military leader , army general (1991). Chairman of the Council of the All-Russian Public Organization of Veterans of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Childhood

From the family of a soldier. As a child, he lived in places where his father served in the cities of Letichev and Slavuta . The beginning of World War II caught a family in Poltava . Since 1941, he was with his mother and sister in evacuation in the village of Krasnouralsk, Novorsky district, Chkalov region . Since 1943, the family lived in the new father’s duty station in Kharkov , and then in the Ternopil region . He graduated from school there. He went in for sports, was the champion of the Ukrainian SSR in swimming [1] , had sports categories in skiing, boxing, and sambo.

Start of military service

Since 1953 - in the Soviet Army . He graduated from the Kiev joint school of self-propelled artillery named after M.V. Frunze in 1956. He commanded a training platoon of the 32nd separate tank regiment in the Baltic military district ( Alytus ), a tank platoon in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany , from 1963 - a training tank company , from December 1966 to August 1967 he was deputy commander of the training tank battalion for political part in the Baltic military district . Then he was sent to study. Member of the CPSU .

In 1970 he graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . From June 1970, for some time served as deputy commander of a motorized rifle regiment, then from October 1970, he was chief of staff of a tank regiment of the 4th Guards Tank Kantemirovskaya Division of the Moscow Military District . From February 1973 he commanded a tank regiment , then from August of the same 1973 to July 1974, he was chief of staff and deputy commander of the 4th Guards Tank Kantemirov Division . The military ranks of the lieutenant colonel and colonel were awarded ahead of schedule.

In senior and senior positions

In 1976 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces named after K. E. Voroshilov with a gold medal, then in 1982 he graduated from the Higher Academic Courses at this Academy. From July 1976, he was the commander of the 15th Guards Tank Division of the Central Group of Forces ; from December 1978, he was the commander of the 28th Army Corps also in the Central Army Headquarters ( Czechoslovakia ). Since July 1980 - the commander of the 14th Guards Combined Arms Army in the Odessa Military District . Major General of the tank forces (1978). Lieutenant General of the tank forces (10.30.1981).

In May 1982 - November 1983 - the commander of the 40th Army , which led the fighting in Afghanistan as part of the Limited contingent of Soviet troops. Ermakov fell to the difficult first years of the Afghan war , when the weak readiness of the Soviet troops for military operations in the conditions of mountainous and deserted terrain, numerous shortcomings of weapons systems and support for troops were revealed.

Since 1983 - First Deputy Commander of the Turkestan Military District . Since October 1984 - commander of the Central Group of Forces in Czechoslovakia , Colonel General (10/29/1984). Since December 1987 - commander of the troops of the Leningrad Military District .

Since July 5, 1990 - Deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR for Personnel - Head of the Main Personnel Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Defense .

The military rank of General of the Army was awarded by decree of the President of the USSR M.S. Gorbachev on February 6, 1991 .

He was relieved of his post on September 12, 1991, after the events of the Emergency Committee . He was later fired.

Member of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR in 1984-1988. People's Deputy of the RSFSR from 1990 to 1993.

Married. Two sons are officers of the Russian Army.
