Biography

Suleiman Abdullin was born on August 15, 1928 in the village of Utyagulovo, Zianchurinsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan , and became one of the first Bashkir singers to perform Bashkir folk songs from the philharmonic stage. He was a pioneer of this business, devoting him his whole life. Abdullin's work had a great influence on all subsequent generations of national singers.

Since childhood, he sang at concerts in the club and school, at the request of adults and children, in the mountains, which are many around the village. At the age of 8, he first participated in a local amateur art show and sang such “adult” songs as “ Buranbai ” and “ Tashtugay ”.

In the work of Suleiman Abdullin, a special place is occupied by the song “ Kasmarka Valley ” (this is a river flowing near the village). He perceived it as a relic from his father. In 1942, Ayup-agay before going to the front, having risen along with his 14-year-old son on Mount Birdegul , looked at the district for a long time, and then, sitting on a large rock, sang this song, saying goodbye to his native land forever. “Son,” he said before breaking up, “you have a beautiful voice.” When the war ends, go to Ufa , sing the people on the radio, at least once. ” Suleiman took these words as parting words for his whole life and, having arrived in Ufa for the first time in 1948 , sang on the radio his favorite song “Kasmarka Valley” - his father’s farewell song, a song dedicated to his native land.

Twenty-year-old vocalist was invited to work at the Bashkir State Philharmonic .

For 26 years he worked as a soloist of the Philharmonic and the leader of the concert team. He had a lyrical tenor , very strong, of an opera plan (this means that the singer could sing without a microphone ), rich in different emotional shades. Very soon Abdullin became the idol of the public.

The main place in his repertoire was occupied by lingering folk songs, although there were songs by composers of the republic. Outwardly very calm, he completely transformed when performing folk songs, putting maximum emotions in them. “I sing Bashkir folk songs with all my being, with all my heart, loving with all my soul,” said the singer. “No matter what song I sing, I am always imbued with her words, her story.” Each of them in his performance rose to the level of a musical and poetic drama: Madinakai , Zalifakay , Kamalek , Shafiq - more than sixty in all. And all are classic examples of Bashkir lingering songs, such as “ Ural ” or “ Syrdarya ”. From songs of Zianchurin origin, the singer performed the songs “ Hisam ”, “ Kara Surai ”, “ Ergaish ”, which he learned from his mother, who was picking berries on the shore of this small river.

Although the people fell in love with the art of Suleiman Abdullin and he very quickly became famous, he had to wait a long time for official recognition. Only in 1986 he was awarded the honorary title “ Honored Artist of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic ”.

Repertoire

The artist’s repertoire includes more than 60 folk songs, including “Arme”, “Artylysh” (“Pass”), “ Buranbai ”, “Kazamart buiy” (“Kasmarka Valley”), “Zalifakay”, “Kamalek”, “Port Arthur” , “Syr Darya”, “ Tashtugay ”, “Shafiq”, as well as works by Z. G. Ismagilov , T. Sh. Karimov and others.

He died on March 11, 2002 in Ufa. Buried at home.
