Biography

His ancestral nickname (it is not mentioned in a number of chronicles) Isaac received from the Borok volost ( Boretskaya volost ), which he probably owned and began its activity in it. In 1417, Isaac Boretsky repulsed her from the fugitive Novgorodians who had attacked the parish, Vyatchans and Ustyuzhan .

The date when Isaac became the Novgorod posadnik is unknown. In 1426, he was mentioned in this post together with Gregory Posakhno . They concluded a peace treaty with the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vitovt with an indemnity of more than 10,000 rubles in favor of the Principality of Lithuania .

When Dmitry Shemyaka fled to Novgorod and lived in the city (1452-1453), Isaac Boretsky visited Moscow and petitioned Grand Prince Vasily II for the release of prisoners captured in the struggle against Shemyaka. As a result of this visit, the letter of Metropolitan Jonah of Moscow to Novgorod Archbishop Euthymius II is known. The metropolitan asked the archbishop to persuade Shemyak to peace with the Grand Duke, reported the release of prisoners without ransom, and demanded to send ambassadors from Novgorod for the final establishment of peace.

The last mention of the estate of Isaac Boretsky in the annals dates back to 1456 when the Grand Duke Vasily II addressed the Novgorod governors with a letter demanding to satisfy the claims of the princely peasants from whom the clerks of the boyars Mikhail Tuchi and Isaac Boretsky took 700 white hides on the Dvina .
