Waterfalls are a cascade consisting of a large upper waterfall, and several small ones located below. The height of the waterfalls ranges from 37 to 45 meters, and the width is from 100 to 400 meters, depending on the time of year and the amount of rainfall. [2] Until the 1960s, the waterfall was more powerful, but now part of the water from the Blue Nile flows through artificial channels located above the waterfall to two hydroelectric power stations. A rainbow often forms above a waterfall. This place attracts many foreign tourists. [3]
A little lower than the waterfall, the river flows in a deep gorge, through which the oldest stone bridge in Ethiopia, built by Portuguese missionaries in 1626, is thrown. [four]
