Draper, Haydn

Haydn Paul Draper ( born Haydn Paul Draper ; January 21, 1889 , Penart - November 1, 1934 , London ) - British clarinet player , nephew of Charles Draper .

He learned to play the clarinet with his father, and by the time he entered the Royal College of Music he already had a good command of the instrument. In college, his teachers were his uncle and Julian Edgerton . Subsequently, Draper was the soloist-clarinetist of the Queens-lll orchestra and the BBC Military Orchestra . He also played in the London Wind Quintet and made a number of recordings as a soloist . Since 1923, Draper taught at the Royal Academy of Music, where Reginald Kell was among his students.
