In 1926, at the Mezhrabpom-Rus film factory , a team of artists ( Yuri Merkulov , Daniil Cherkes , Ivan Ivanov-Vano , cameraman Leonid Kosmatov ) began working on the first children's animated film " Senka-African ", based on the tales of Korney Chukovsky . The picture appeared on the screen in early 1927. For all its shortcomings, the film had a positive response in the press and was watched with great interest by the children's audience. This success prompted artists to create other children's films. So in 1927 the painting "Cockroach" was released , made by the artist Alexander Ivanov also based on the tale of Chukovsky.
According to critics, the film achieved a high, for its time, culture of visual solutions and the technique of “animating” characters [1] .
Originally dumb, the film was voiced in 1929 . Sound producer - Vladimir Legoshin .

Criticism
. With a gnashing of teeth, I recall my fairy tale "Cockroach," which fell victim to some unprincipled multidey.
