History
In the Samhan era, the territory on which modern Namyangju is located was part of the Mahan tribal association called Koriguk. Later, in the era of the Three States, this area became part of the Baekje state. In the 5th century ( 475 year ), the area was ceded to the state of Goguryo, and here the district of Changhwa (Changhwagun) and the district of Kolino (Kolinohyun) were formed. In 553, the territory was transferred to the state of Silla . In 757, administrative reform took place, as a result of which several counties were formed here, including Hanyang County, which in 935, during the era of the Koryo Dynasty , was renamed Yangju. Later, in the Yanju area was allocated Hanyang. For almost the entire history of Korea, this area has been part of Yangju County. Namyangju (southern Yangju) was separated from Yanju in 1980, having received the status of county (gun). The status of the city (si) was obtained in 1995. [one]
