X100 body
The last generation Toyota Cresta in the bodies of the 100th series (100, 101, 105) was produced from September 1996 to September 2001. When the generation changed, the design of the car was radically redesigned. The dimensions of the body and interior practically did not change, the design of the chassis and transmission also did not undergo significant changes. Passive safety has changed significantly, the car has acquired 4 airbags (2 front and 2 side). Like the previous generation, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive modifications have been preserved. The range of engines used has undergone changes and looked as follows:
- 1G-FE - 2.0 L 6 cylinders, in-line, until September 1998 (without VVT-i) - 140 liters. from.
- 1G-FE (BEAMS) - 2.0 L 6 cylinders, in-line - 160 liters. from.
- 1JZ-GE (VVT-I) - 2.5 L 6 cylinders, in-line - 200 l. from.
- 2JZ-GE - 3.0 L 6 cylinders, in-line - 220 l. from.
- 1JZ-GTE (VVT-I) - 2.5 L 6 cylinders, in-line, turbocharging - 280 l. from.
- 2L-TE - 2.4 L diesel, 4 cylinders, in-line, turbocharged, 97 l. from.
Since December 1995, VVT-i variable valve timing technology has been applied in gasoline engines, and since 1998, a cylinder head upgraded by Yamaha specialists has been used on a 2-liter 1G-FE. This technology is called Dual BEAMS . As in the previous generation, the Tourer V (turbocharged) modification has been preserved, but since 1996 in the 10 * body generation it has already been designated as Roulant G, a sports suspension with floating silent blocks of the upper arm, lower stiffener, increased calipers, and a screen protecting brake disk. The limited slip differential is an option for cars with automatic transmission and the base for versions with manual transmission. All cars in the Roulant G configuration were offered to consumers with a 280-horsepower engine with a VVT-i system, a limited-slip differential, wheels of different sizes for the front and rear axles and a 5-speed manual transmission, xenon dipped headlights and 16-inch alloy wheels disks. Also, the TRC anti-slip system and the VSC stabilization system are included in the basic package. In 1998, restyling was carried out, which mainly affected headlights and taillights.
