History
The company was founded in 1932 as the Samedan Oil Corporation in Oklahoma. The founder of the company is Lloyd Noble.
In the 70s, the company turned into a Noble Affiliates Inc. holding, within the framework of which 3 directions were developed: oil and gas production, drilling and freight transportation.
In 1980, the holding entered the New York Stock Exchange .
The company reached the peak of profitability by the beginning of the 80s, after which the profit began to fall. So, by 1985, the company became unprofitable. As part of the restructuring program , the motor transport business was sold in 1984 , and in 1985, the service business was separated into a separate company. In the late 80s, to reduce debt, the company also conducted an additional issue of its shares.
As a result of the measures taken, by 1996 the company was able to recover from financial problems and begin to function normally.
In 2002, the company diversified its activities by opening methanol production. In the same year, Noble Affiliates Inc. was renamed Noble Energy Inc.
