Biography
Born May 28, 1923 in the village of Stary Pichingushi, Penza province (now Yelnikovsky district , Republic of Mordovia , Russia ) in a peasant family. Mordvin . He lived in the village of Novotroitsk, Sosnovsky district, Chelyabinsk region , where he graduated from elementary school. Worked on a collective farm .
In April 1942 he was drafted into the Red Army by the Sosnovsky district military enlistment office of the Chelyabinsk region. At the front in World War II from June 1942.
Minesweeper of the 78th Infantry Regiment (74th Infantry Division, 13th Army, Central Front ) Red Army soldier George Yakushkin was particularly distinguished in the battles for the liberation of the Komarinsky now Bragin district of the Polesskaya now Gomel region of Belarus.
On September 23, 1943, sapper Yakushkin was among the first to cross the Dnieper River , reconnoiter the location of the enemy’s troops and provide valuable intelligence to the command of the 78th Infantry Regiment, thereby successfully facilitating the crossing of its military unit.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for the exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to them, Red Army soldier Yakushkin Georgy Trofimovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
In January 1944, a brave sapper Sergeant G.T. Yakushkin was seriously wounded in one of the battles. Died of his wounds on January 24, 1944 . He was buried in the city of Squire, Kiev region of Ukraine .
