Biography

Wellington Monteiro was born in Rio de Janeiro and started playing football at the venue of the Bangu Club. At a professional level, he made his debut as part of the “Paulists” in 1999.

In the first half of the 2000s, Monteiro changed teams quite often, among them were such grandees of Brazilian football as Vasco da Gama and Cruzeiro.

The most successful period in Wellington Monteiro’s career was 2006-2008. As part of Internacional, he won five domestic and international trophies, including the Libertadores Cup and the Club World Cup in 2006.

After Inter, Monteiro spent a short period at Fluminance, after which his career began to decline. The last team for Monteiro was Audax Rio.
