Content
History
Inchcape was founded in 1847 during the heyday of the British Empire as a transport and export company called MacKinnon MacKenzie Company. In 1874, James Lyle Mackay became one of the partners of the company (later, in 1911, he was awarded the title of Baron Inchkape-Stratnaversky by the name of the Inchape reef and the Scottish city of Stratnaver ).
In 1958, the company became public under the name Inchcape and Company, in 1972 it took over the trading house Dodwell & Co. . Inchcape has been trading in automobiles since 1973.
