History
It was founded in 1908 as the only specialized educational institution in the United States for the legal education of women, under the original name Portia Law School , on behalf of the heroine of Shakespeare's play “The Merchant of Venice ”. Since 1938, has been accepting for training both women and men. Since 1969 it bears its current name.
Center for International Law and Politics
In 1996, the New England Center for International Law and Policy was formed as part of the New England School of Law, designed to conduct a study of the relationship between international law and politics, with a special emphasis on economic, environmental, criminal, or humanitarian nature. The center sponsors research, publications, training and dissemination of knowledge in these areas, and implements the International War Crimes Prosecution Project [1] .
