Biography
Vladimir Saveliev, known by his creative pseudonym (by the name of his mother) Vladimir Asmolov, was born in Ukraine in the city of Stalin, now Donetsk . After graduation, he served in the Soviet Army. In 1973 he graduated from the philological faculty of Donetsk State University . Since 1975, lives in Moscow.
Vladimir did not receive a musical education, but he writes not only poetry for his songs, but also music. After his unsatisfactory collaboration (as the author of song lyrics) with several Soviet composers, he created the first authorial album, “Girls-Venereos” ( 1986 ). Since then, almost every year a new album by Vladimir Asmolov is released. The singer’s calling card was the song “Autumn of Life” from the album “Tin Soul” (1988).
Since 1989, he began concert activity. In the summer of 1991, he first visited the United States, where he recorded his “American Album”. There is still a legend that the singer emigrated, although abroad he is only on tour trips. Despite the fact that Vladimir Asmolov was never widely publicized on radio and television (with the exception of Radio Chanson ), his name is well known in Russia and among the Russian-speaking population abroad, and his performances are popular [1] :
On the stage in the ray of light there is only one person, the author and actor, yes. Not a singer, but a singing actor, for each Vladimir’s song is a small story, or a story, or a sketch drawn from life, easily recognizable and, probably, therefore always provoking a lively reaction from the audience.
