Sarah McClendon ( born Sarah McClendon ; July 8, 1910 , Tyler , Texas , USA - January 8, 2003 ) is an American political journalist.

She graduated from the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri ( 1931 ), worked in local newspapers. In 1942 she entered the military service, received the military rank of lieutenant and worked in the press service of the Chief Military Doctor of the United States. In 1943 , she entered into a short-lived marriage with a colleague and the next year she gave birth to a daughter, after which she retired and settled in Washington , in 1946 she founded her own small news agency McClendon News Service .
For over 50 years, she constantly participated in press conferences of the US Presidents in the White House , becoming famous for sharp and sometimes sharp questions. This experience is compiled and summarized by McClendon in her books My Eight Presidents; 1978 and Mr. President, Mr. President !: My 50 Years in Covering the Life of the White House ( Mr. President, Mr. President!: My 50 years of covering the White House ; 1996 ).
