Gevgelia is located in the Boymiya region on the southern border of Northern Macedonia , on the right bank of the Vardar River, on the main highway Belgrade - Athens .

In Gevgelia, the rock band Ziyan was founded, which became widely known in the former Yugoslavia after winning the 1987 festival in the city of Zayechar [3] [4] .
