Assistant locomotive driver ( razg. Helped, Helped, Help [1] ) - a railway worker who is part of the locomotive crew . It belongs to the category of technical executors and in its labor activity reports directly to the driver . The position is indicated by the telegraphic code ТЧМП- Traction part of the Engineer Assistant.
Responsibilities
Along with the driver, the assistant driver should:
- know the rules of technical operation of railways , instructions for signaling, train movement and shunting on railways, other regulations and documents of the Ministry of Transport on issues related to the duties of locomotive crew workers, as well as the requirements of rules and instructions for safety and industrial sanitation operation, repair of locomotives and MVPS , as well as fire safety on rolling stock ;
- periodically pass the knowledge test.
In addition, the assistant driver should:
- promptly and accurately fulfill the instructions of the driver to care for the components and assemblies of the traction rolling stock, its maintenance, as well as to monitor the condition of the served and oncoming trains. If necessary, fix the train from spontaneous leaving;
- when following a traffic light prohibiting signal, while standing at the driver’s workplace, monitor and periodically report to the driver the signal indication, the position of the driver’s controller or traction controls, the pressure in the brake and supply lines, the set speeds in the section and the repetition speed to the traffic light prohibiting signal. In the absence of actions on the part of the driver to reduce the speed and stop before the inhibitory signal, take all measures to stop the train yourself, while avoiding the passage of the inhibitory traffic signal;
- in case of sudden loss of the driver’s ability to control the locomotive, stop the train, secure it in the prescribed manner from spontaneous departure, send a radio message about this to the train dispatcher on duty at stations restricting the driving, to the train drivers of all trains located in this section.
When driving a wagon train, the assistant driver provides visual control of the boarding and disembarkation of passengers .
Signs of distinction - a tab facing the angle from the shoulder and an empty shoulder strap. In some depots, the assistant engineer with the right to control the composition is also allowed to wear epaulettes with a strap and one star
